When the energy market is volatile your bills shouldn’t.
An independent energy consultancy for UK businesses. I review your gas and electricity contracts, check your bills for errors and show you where you’re paying more than you need to.

Only part of your bill is the energy portion itself. Pick a slice to see what it pays for and what you can do about it.
What you can do
Shares are typical for a small business electricity bill and vary by site, meter type and contract.
What I do for you
- Buying at the right time
- I monitor the wholesale market for you and recommend when to fix your price. Larger users can buy in stages, so one bad week can’t set your price for three years.
- Contract renewals
- I take your requirements to a wide panel of business suppliers and compare full quotes, standing charges and terms side by side. You choose, and nothing is signed without your say-so.
- Bill checks and refunds
- Wrong rates, estimated reads, missing VAT or Climate Change Levy relief, and charges after a meter change. I check line by line and claim back overcharges from your supplier.
- Usage reviews
- Using your half-hourly meter data, I show when your site uses power, what runs overnight and how moving load away from peak periods lowers network charges.
- Multi-site management
- One schedule of every meter, supplier and contract end date, so renewals stop catching you out and costs can be compared site against site.
How a review works
Send your bills
A recent bill for each meter, and a signed letter of authority so I can request your usage history.
I check everything
Rates, charges, reads and contract terms, against what you should be paying and what you actually use.
You get a written plan
Errors to reclaim, usage changes worth making, and the right time and way to buy your next contract.
You decide
Act on the plan yourself, or have me handle the tender and paperwork. There’s no obligation either way.
How I am paid
The initial review costs nothing. If you take a new contract through me, I am paid either a fee we agree up front or a commission from the supplier.
Either way, the amount is clearly set out on my proposal in pence per unit before you sign.
Who you’ll deal with
I am Paul Findlater and I work independently. I am not tied to any supplier, so my recommendation is the one that suits your business, not the one that pays best.
You’ll deal with me directly from first call to signed contract, and after it. If a bill looks wrong next winter, you’ll know who to ring.
Frequently asked questions
How are you paid?
The first bill review is free. If you go ahead with a new contract, I am paid either a fixed fee you agree in advance or a commission from the supplier.
Will I have to change supplier?
No. Sometimes the best result is renegotiating with your current supplier. Sometimes the biggest saving comes from correcting bills or changing how you use energy, without switching at all.
I’m in the middle of a contract. Is it too early to talk?
Usually not. Many businesses can secure a renewal price up to a year before their contract ends. That lets you buy when the wholesale market dips, not in the final weeks. Bill checks and usage reviews can start at any time.
What do you need from me to start?
A sample of your last twelve months of gas and/or electricity bills, or one recent bill per meter . I also need a signed letter of authority so I can request your usage data from your supplier. That’s all.
Do you work with businesses that have several sites?
Yes. Multi-site businesses often have meters on different suppliers, end dates and rates. I can bring them onto aligned contracts so renewals happen together and costs are easier to track.
